I liked how open Fred was about about his past and how it motivates and inspires him to create his art. I also liked that he doesn't make the pieces in the arrangements himself because they are found objects. This got me to brainstorm about an approach to creating my own display. I thought about how objects that upon first glance may seem like they have no correlation could potentially be placed together based on a broader theme.
I also found it interesting to hear about how culturally diverse his family is due to his relatives marrying people from other cultures and walks of life. In this way, he feels familiar with the many people he sees and meets in the world because of the cultural diversity in his own family. I can certainly see how this could be inspiring to his artistic vision and allow him to create intriguing and thought provoking arrangements within his displays.
